“VivaCell-MTS” invested about USD 7.5mln in building 4G/LTE network

Yerevan/Mediamax/. General Manager of “VivaCell-MTS” Ralph Yirikian stated that the company invested about USD 7.5mln in building 4G/LTE network.

Speaking at the presentation of the launch of new generation 4G/LTE network into commercial testing today, Ralph Yirikian stated that in 2011, the new network will be expanded to Gyumri and Vanadzor, and further on to other territories all over the country.

According to him, the company will introduce all novelties of telecommunication technologies of the world in Armenia and will apply them in its network. Ralph Yirikian noted that the company will study in commercial testing the capacities of 4G network and at the end of March or in early April the service will be put to offer.

Head of “VivaCell-MTS” stated that commercial testing will be held among most active subscribers of the company. During the testing they will also elaborate the tariff package for 4G services; however “the prices for the new technology will not exceed the tariffs of 3G offers”.

Ralph Yirikian stated that cell phones, supporting 4G, are used in monopoly order only on the territory of North America, however after liberalization, “VivaCell-MTS” Company will quickly introduce them in Armenia.

At present, the service is available by means of 4G USB dongle, which will be put to sale at “VivaCell-MTS” stores in late March, 2011, Ralph Yirikian stated.

Speaking of investment plans for 2011, Ralph Yirikian noted that the total volume of investments will make USD 55mln.
