“VivaCell-MTS” launched 4G LTE network in Yerevan

Yerevan/Mediamax/. “VivaCell-MTS” Company announced today the launch of commercial testing of 4G-LTE new generation network in the small center of Yerevan and in Arabkir community.

General Manager of the Company Ralph Yirikian stated at the ceremony of the launch, which was attended by the Prime Minister of the country Tigran Sargsian, that Armenia is the first country in the region and the tenth in the world to put 4G network into operation, and is the first in the world to launch data roaming in 4G network.

Theoretically, the transmission capacity of 4G network reaches 160Mb/sec (download) and 50Mb/sec (upload), and in practice these figures make respectively 148-163Mb/sec and 48Mb/sec. At that, on the servers in Armenia, the speed reaches 48Mb/sec (download) and 21Mb/sec (upload).
