Armenian Prime Minister receives VEON delegation

Prime Minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan received today the delegation led by Chief Executive Officer of VEON Jean-Yves Charlier.

Prime Minister Karapetyan remarked that the government is interested in the development and expansion of private sector and increase of investments in the sphere of telecommunications. Karen Karapetyan suggested paying special attention to education sector, which involves training high level personnel for their company as well.

“At the government’s session today we made additional changes in the laws on tax and customs administration, which implies important regulations for foreign investors. We are convinced that these changes and regulations will create favorable conditions for business development. The government is ready to address any issues that businesses face in Armenia. We also envision certain moves in state-private sector cooperation,” Karen Karapetyan stressed.

Jean-Yves Charlier noted that VEON is committed to continuing implementation of investment programs in Armenia. According to him, the events to be implemented in Armenia for 2018 are now ready.  

The sides also touched upon the programs to be realized in Gyumri particularly regarding VEON’s involvement in recovery of communication infrastructure.
