Nobody can say VivaCell-MTS has no care for soldiers, says Yirikian

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian stated today that the company will violate international laws and lose its license, if cancels roaming between Armenia and Artsakh.

Ralph Yirikian made this statement at the meeting with journalists today.

He reminded that roaming tariff with Artsakh is regulated by agreements.

“I cannot bring the international roaming tariff down to Armenian even if I try. We should take into account tariffs of other operators working in the given area. We cannot make our tariffs lower than those of local operators. Our tariff for outgoing calls in roaming is AMD 25/1 min. You can use this service by dialing *101*, the phone number and #. By the way, the call time is calculated by seconds, not minutes. This is the minimal tariff already, as it’s the minimal tariff of the local operators,” explained Ralph Yirikian.

He also informed that the company is holding negotiations to find a way to lower the tariffs.

“I had meetings with soldiers in different places. They ask the same question. I promised to find a solution through negotiations in a few months, but we have to take a number of circumstances into account, otherwise we’ll have problems with International Mobile Satellite Organisation. We should be careful,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager.

He reminded that the company is one of the largest taxpayers in Armenia, and VivaCell-MTS tax payments are allocated on Army expenses as well.

“Nobody can say that VivaCell-MTS has no care for soldiers. We realize a number of programs that directly support Armenian soldiers. However, we do not want to discuss them, and we never will,” said Ralph Yirikian.
