VivaCell-MTS supports heating of Artsvaberd sports school

VivaCell-MTS together with the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) marked the completion and presented the outcomes of yet another project implemented in Artsvaberd community within the framework of the joint Alternative Energy Project.

The initiative included installation of a solar water heating system and solar panels in the sports hall in the border village Arstvaberd, Tavush region, making the operation of the sports hall in winter as well.

The concluding event was attended by VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, founder of FPWC Ruben Khachatryan, head of Arstvaberd community Volodya Uzanyan and the community residents.

“VivaCell-MTS gives special importance to the “Alternative Energy” project as its environmental benefits are apparent. Providing hot water and constructing a heating system in the gym of borderline Artsvaberd village adds to the importance of the project because it gives the young people of Artsvaberd and nearby villages the opportunity to train in wintertime, too, reaching better results. In the course of history we have had many outstanding sportsmen, who we are proud of, and we are sure that future champions of Armenia will be trained in this gym”, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said.

Arstvaberd community, which is 8 km far from Azerbaijan border, has 5220 inhabitants. There are various sport clubs operating in the sports hall not only for locals but for the teenagers from neighboring villages.

The system implemented within the Alternative Energy Project has been connected to the sports hall's heating and hot water system and includes solar water heaters with the capacity of 31.1 KW. The solar water heating system installed in the kindergarten is energy efficient and environmentally friendly. It will reduce water heating costs by 100% in the summer and up to 50-60% in the winter. By the way, the vacuum pipes with diameter of 70mm are being used in frames of the Alternative Energy project for the second year and they have proven to be the most effective ones in Armenia.

VivaCell-MTS will allocate additional 1.5 million drams for purchasing and installing new windows in the gym.

This year the following 17 communities of 7 regions of Armenia have been included in the Alternative Energy Project: Chkalov community of Lori region; Vahan, Tsovagyugh, Lichq communities of Gegharkunik region; Gnishik, Bardzuni, Khndzorut, Gomq communities of Vayots Dzor region; Chinari, Artsvaberd, Berdavan, Jujevan communities of Tavush region; Ujan community of Aragatsotn region; Lor, Arevis, Njdeh communities of Syunik region; Paruyr Sevak community of Ararat region.
