Ucom is Interactive's owner but the companies won't merge

Ucom is the owner of Interactive TV's 100% of shares but the companies are not going to merge, Ucom Commercial Director Aram Barseghyan told Mediamax today.

Commenting on the statement made by "Interactive TV" Director Arsen Babajanyan according to which he has "no information on the process of merger of his company and "Ucom", Aram Barseghyan said that the companies are not really going to merge and operate on their own strategies.

Responding to Mediamax's observation that Ucom and Interactive are competitors in fact (both provide internet and IP TV services), Aram Barseghyan said that though both companies provide similar services they differ both in content and quality and have various target markets.

"Interactive provides its internet and TV services not through fiber-optic network but with coaxial cable. Interactive TV service is not provided with IPTV technology as we do. Interactive operates in lower tariff segment, mostly for student segment", said Aram Barseghyan.
