The State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) today initiated administrative proceedings against Orange Armenia.
The SCPEC noted that the Commission received a complaint on Orange Armenia’s operation, particularly unfair advertising policies.
The company advertises that in case of 24-month subscription a number of mobile phone models can be purchased at only AMD1. No other additional information on the offer is provided.
During the SCPEC investigation, it turned out that the package includes 3 tariff plans - AMD4000, AMD 6000 and AMD 10 000.
“The ad doesn’t provide any information on which tariff plan enables a customer to purchase the phone at AMD1, while within the offer, phones can be purchased in case of mainly subscribing to AMD10 000 and in some cases- AMD6000 tariff plans. Besides, the investigation showed that the company’s offer is available only in case of the first subscription which isn’t mentioned in the ad, either”, the SCPEC press release reads.
