VivaCell-MTS commercially launched 4G/LTE network.
The network covers 70% of Yerevan area, 100% territory in Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Tsakhkadzor, as well as 80% of the Dilijan.
The official ceremony of presentation of 4G /LTE network was held in Vanadzor during which it was directly linked to the 4G network base located in Tsakhkadzor.
“The nationwide roll-out of 4G/LTE positions Armenia as one of the selected global leaders in 4G deployment, as well as presents Armenia to the world as a country with more attractive communication infrastructure,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
As part of extensive, ongoing investment in 4G/LTE network infrastructure, VivaCell-MTS has recently installed state-of-the-art 4G/LTE equipment, including 200 LTE eNodeB base stations.
"VivaCell-MTS 4G/LTE can provide speeds of up to 60 Mbps in the downlink, and 20 Mbps in the uplink, as showcased via the speed tests using the end-user equipment sold at VivaCell-MTS service centers. They considerably exceed the speeds of 3G network which have been provided up to now", said Ralph Yirikian.
MTS Vice President for Foreign Subsidiaries Andrey Smelkov said he was happy that VivaCell-MTS launched the network in Armenia.
"It shows our company's customers will be provided with high-quality service. Armenia is one of the leaders in terms of introduction of 4G/LTE network in CIS; it has been launched in Russia only recently", he said.
The network was first introduced in Armenia in 2010 and it was only available in Yerevan downtown. From now on, it covers around 33% of Armenia's populated area. During the event, VivaCell-MTS gifted to 15 loyal customers "the device of their dreams".
4G/LTE USB modem costs AMD15 000, but it will be provided free in case of subscription. The subscriber's phone should have 4G/LTE option and SIM card should be re-set in accord with to the network requirements, and the service costs AMD500.
