A new agricultural project is launched in Karmir Aghek village of Lori region with the support of the Orange Foundation and G2IA.
The project uses the consumer cooperative model and allows to over 38 families living in the village to get better results by joining their efforts. The Orange Foundation has invested overall AMD4,16 mln for implementation of the project, Orange Armenia informs.
To support the newly created cooperative, a cannery and a drying house for herbs were built in the village, to help the cooperative members to organize their work. Professional trainings were organized for the inhabitants, as well as links were established with processing companies, to facilitate the operation of the new consumer cooperative and the realization of the harvest.
These days the inhabitants of Karmir Aghek already present their own production, such as, jams from different fruits, dried herbs, stewed fruits and large assortment of vodka, at the expo-fair organized in Odzun village of Lori region.
“The problems of the Armenian villages are at the center of attention of the Orange Foundation. Karmir Aghek is already the second village, where an economic project is being implemented with the support of the Orange Foundation. This initiative tends to become a basis for sustainable and permanent development for the inhabitants of the village. Indeed, we want to see soon the results and changes our investment will make in this village,” said Nazareth Seferian, General Secretary of the Orange Foundation.
