Prime Minister: Armenian IT sector is comparable with the mining sphere

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The sphere of information technologies in Armenia is comparable with the sphere of mining industry, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian said today.

Mediamax reports that speaking at the constituent assembly of the “Armenian Commercial Network” in Yerevan today, the Prime Minister said that the share of IT sector in GDP has reached 5%, and the number of people employed in the sphere makes approximately 5000.

“Important is the fact that the level of salaries in IT sector is higher than in the mining one. We should pay special attention to the quality of university education to preserve the relative advantages of Armenia in the sphere of information technologies”, Tigran Sargsian said.
