EU urges Armenia to intensify legislation application to protect copyright

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of EU Delegation in Armenia Raul de Luzenberger believes that weak application of legislation is the main problem in Armenia in the sphere of copyright protection.

Mediamax reports that, speaking at the launch of the seminar on copyright protection in Armenia, the diplomat stated that “if Armenia intends to set up industrial parks, free economic zones on its territory, to promote innovative business and enter the European market, copyright protection should constantly be in the focus of the government’s attention”.

Raul de Luzenberger noted that provision of all necessary measures on copyright protection is also based on Armenia’s commitments under the European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan.

Head of Intellectual Property Agency of Armenia Armen Azizyan also noted that despite the necessity to improve the legislation, the main problem is its application and the Police and customs structures should be actively involved in that process.
