SoloLearn raises USD 5.6m

Armenian-American startup SoloLearn has raised USD 5.6 million and reached over one million monthly users.

The fundraiser was led by Naspers through its Naspers Ventures division, with participation from existing investor Learn Capital.

SoloLearn has said that the new investment round will help them to further accelerate global growth and localization, allow to scale their team in Armenia and the U.S., and launch a new service aimed at helping its community members improve their career choices.

“SoloLearn has been used across the globe by students looking to increase their coding skills and we want to expand further, teaching more students in more regions, and providing more diverse and advanced learning content,” said Yeva Hyusyan, SoloLearn CEO.

Nearly half of the users of the app by the startup of the same name, founded in 2014, are in the U.S., India, and Russia. SoloLearn offers learning tracks, including JavaScript, Swift, Python, C++, and HTML/CSS, plus specialized content related to machine learning, AI, algorithms, and data structures.

SoloLearn is available online as well as on Google Play and App Store.

The startup raised USD 1.2m seed funding in October 2016. The funds came from Learn Capital and individuals who previously invested in SoloLearn.
