Creator of iPod Tony Fadell to receive Global IT Award of Armenian President

Lebanese-American innovator, founder of Nest Labs and creator of iPod trademark Tony Fadell will receive 2017 Global IT Award of Armenian President for Outstanding Contribution.

The name of the winner was announced by Chairman of GIT Award Committee Armen Gevorgyan, Chairman of Executive Board Hovik Musayelyan and VivaCell-MTS (sponsor of the award) General Manager Ralph Yirikian in a news conference at Armenian presidential residence yesterday.

Global IT Award is granted on an annual basis to an individual whose internationally acclaimed contributions to IT have resulted in near-revolutionary or revolutionary developments that have positively impacted the humanity.

The Global IT Award consists of a gold medal, diploma and trophy evoking Armenia and high tech.

“The development of Telecommunications and Information Technologies in a given country is inseparably connected to its worldwide recognition in the field. To make IT one of Armenia’s most competitive advantages we need to both promote the development of technologies on company level and raise the country’s rating on the world stage, particularly in the sector of ICT. Global IT Award of Armenian President for Outstanding Contribution is a priority initiative, implemented in our common pursuit,” VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian remarked.
