Louis Pouzin meets representatives of media and ICT community at VivaCell-MTS headquarter

Today General Manager of Open-Root organization and one of the recognized and celebrated Founding Fathers of Internet Louis Pouzin visited VivaCell-MTS Headquarters. Pouzin is the seventh laureate of the Annual Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for Outstanding Contribution to Global IT.

The joint press conference of Louis Pouzin with VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, Chairman of Executive Board of GIT Award Hovik Musaelyan and CEO and Chairman of Viasphere International Tony Moroyan was followed by a brief speech on the development of Internet by Louis Pouzin.

Louis Pouzin is on a visit to Armenia to receive the 2016 Annual GIT Gold Medal Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for his Outstanding Contribution to the Humanity through his innovation in the Global IT. The formal award ceremony will take place on November 8 at the Presidential Palace. Inaugurated in 2009 by the Decree of the President of Armenia, the Award of the President of the RA for Outstanding Contribution to Global IT is granted on an annual basis to an individual, whose internationally acclaimed contributions to IT have resulted in near-revolutionary or revolutionary developments that have positively impacted or hold the potential to positively impact the humanity.

Louis Pouzin is the seventh GIT Award laureate. Armenia hosted the following international titans in the previous years: the retired CEO/Chairman of the Board of Intel Corporation Craig Barrett (2010), co-founder of Apple Computers, Inc. Steve Wozniak (2011), Chairman Emeritus of Synaptics, Inc. Federico Faggin (2012), President of the Society of Semiconductor Industry Specialists, President of Techno Vision consulting firm Tsugio Makimoto (2013), Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Insieme Business Unit at Cisco Mario Mazzola (2014), and Chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab. Eugene Kaspersky (2015).

“Visits of Louis Pouzin and other prominent laureates of the Award to Armenia, their lectures and meetings with the representatives and students in ICT sphere are of paramount importance. The Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia for Outstanding Contribution to Global IT is important in terms of creating new opportunities for the development of the ICT sphere in Armenia and presenting Armenia on the world ICT map as a country having huge yet unrealized potential in the sphere of high technologies.
