We pictured exclusively a man when saying “IT specialist in Armenia” a few years ago, but the success of Armenian technological products on international markets and numerous projects promoting startups development made the industry more attractive for women as well in recent times.
Whether it’s coding, developing products or making other contribution to the team, the opportunities are numerous.

I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, I am a ceramist. In 2000, they began teaching graphic design there. Everything was a novelty at that time, and we only had one computer in the room. My parents decided to buy my very first computer, and I started doing graphic design.

I worked as a graphic designer for seven years. I met some web designers by an accident, who suggested me to do design. It was interesting, but very difficult in the beginning. I have been working as a front-end developer for 7 years now. This is my second year at Teamable.

I have passed the difficult phase of combining work and family, because my daughter is already 12 years old. It was hard before, but my parents helped a lot.
One of this industry’s advantages is that you can work out of the office. There is little time left for the kitchen, so I usually cook on Saturday and Sunday.

There are many girls in IT, and I’m happy about that. For instance, Teamable is about to hire the 5th girl. I was the only female employee when we started, and though I felt very comfortable, I’m always glad to welcome another girl to the team.

IT women differ from women working in other spheres by their pragmatism, and they begin viewing life a series of issues to solve. Every woman in IT I know is very feminine.

Any phone I ever owned was a gift. I don’t remember ever buying a phone for myself. Now I think about buying an ArmPhone and giving my current phone to my daughter.

You should love what you do and move forward despite everything. Perhaps, sometimes it will be difficult, but I am sure that everything is possible.
