Softline offers “cloud computing” solutions in Armenia

yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian office of “Softline” Company is carrying out negotiations on placing a “cloud” server in Armenia.

Head of “ActiveCloud” subdivision of the Armenian representative office of “Softline” Gnel Manukyan said this in an interview to Mediamax.

In 2010, big Russian retailer of software support “Softline” purchased Belarusian “Active” company, which deals with provision of “cloud” and web-hosting services. As a result of the deal, in all countries of its presence, including in Armenia, “Softline” started offering both services, one of which – cloud solutions – is a novelty for the Armenian market.

Gnel Manukyan informed that the services are provided on the basis of Parallels platform via servers, placed in the Netherlands and Moscow.

Speaking of cloud solutions, Gnel Manukyan informed that they provide for a remote work environment, as well as rent of computing capacities.

“Users of these services will not need computers. One will only need a monitor, to which a special device (client) will be connected. A keyboard, a mouse, as well as a device, providing for internet access, will be connected to the latter. By connecting to internet, you will get a desktop with the necessary set of programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc”, Gnel Manukyan said.

According to his assessment, such a service will allow companies and individuals cutting down expenses on purchase of computer equipment by up to 50%.

“Cloud hosting, in its turn, allows providing for maximum flexibility of services, increasing the capacity of the server computer and the volume of the server hosting, when necessary, and paying an additional sum only for this period”, Gnel Manukyan said.
