Pashinyan talks technological revolution at WCIT opening

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has stated today that “the economic revolution in Armenia will lead to a technological revolution and we will be able to turn Armenia into a real technology hub”.

“We consider this a realistic goal because many Armenians created famous technological innovations,” the Prime Minister said at the opening of the 23rd World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) 2019.

Pashinyan underlined that “we are honored to host this congress, because it is a great chance to discuss with the international community our strategy of making Armenia a high-tech industry country”.

“The Armenian economy has recorded impressive growth – 7% as of the moment. The same goes for tourism sector, where we have around 13% growth this year, and export of technological products, where export has grown by 40.9% in the first seven months of the year. The export of high-tech products has increased by 34.4% in the same period,” Pashinyan said.

Touching on education, the Prime Minister stressed that Armenia is going to make it a national lifestyle.

“We believe we can make Armenia a haven for talented people,” noted the head of the government.

WCIT 2019 features over 2500 leaders, innovators, politicians, researchers, art and show business figures from 70 countries.
