Data Science Summer School, organized in the American University of Armenia with the support of Beeline, has concluded with the award ceremony for the winners of the project contest.
The initiative was the first of its kind in Armenia. At the school, experts from various fields learned the basics, primary tools and technologies of data science, and realized digital projects using the knowledge they had obtained during the courses.
14 participating teams submitted their projects to the jury, which selected the projects with the strongest impact, the most complex technical solution and the best practical solution.
The winning teams are as follows: first-placed Recommender System with its LightFM project that recommends products and services, runner-up Employee Churn Prediction, and third-placed project that provides cluster and sentiment analysis of the data of TripAdvisor. The winners were awarded monetary prizes by the school sponsor Beeline and partner Webb Fontain.
“As an IT company, we understand very well the importance and necessity of data science, and we are happy to see the fantastic results of the participating teams. Such practical courses are a great way to train experts needed in the labor market. I am certain that our contestants will soon contribute to technological progress in Armenia,” said Beeline Armenia CEO Andrey Pyatakhin.
