More than 1200 representatives of the tech community in USA signed the open letter to US President-elect Donald Trump on neveragain.tech, refusing to participate in collection of data on migrants proposed by the US Government.
The letter notes that the undersigned remember and recognize the genocides perpetrated in the past, including the Armenian Genocide. They recalled application of technologies in ethnic deportations in various periods of history.
“We are choosing to stand in solidarity with Muslim Americans, immigrants, and all people whose lives and livelihoods are threatened by the incoming administration’s proposed data collection policies. We refuse to build a database of people based on their Constitutionally-protected religious beliefs. We refuse to facilitate mass deportations of people the government believes to be undesirable,” the letter reads.
The letter was published against the background of Donald Trump’s meeting with leading figures of global tech community in New York.
