Khndzorut community of Vayots Dzor region has been provided with street lighting

Within the frames of “Alternative Energy” joint project, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and VivaCell-MTS continue to summarize the results achieved for 2015.

Owing the joint efforts, another efficient project has been implemented in Khndzorut – a bordering remote community in Vayots Dzor marz. Due to the “Alternative Energy” Project, supporting poles and 60 LED street lights were installed in the community. Now an area of 1800 meters in the central part of the village and two main streets are provided with energy-efficient lighting.

“VivaCell-MTS highly appreciates the Alternative energy project because it suggests solution to a few important issues: lightening of streets in borderline villages, saving on electricity payments, using less electric power thus protecting the environment. Besides, it is so encouraging to see enthusiasm in the eyes of the villagers. Light always brings hope, sense of security and warm feelings to people. These are the things that our compatriots living in borderline villages need a lot now”, VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said.

Adjacent to Nakhijevan, Khndzorut community with over 500 inhabitants had not outdoor lighting since the collapse of the Soviet Union. Due to the “Alternative Energy” Project, the 70% of the community is now provided with lighting.

The environmentally friendly and energy efficient LED street lights will reduce energy consumption by 80%. The timeframe for lighting in summer will be 22:00 PM till 01:00 AM. And the winter timeframe is 18:30 PM till 12:00 AM. On holidays the lighting will be all night long. LED lights are energy-efficient, durable and last much longer than regular ones.
