On the evening of April 21, the “100 years of memory” concert took place in the Paris prestigious Châtelet hall.
One of the biggest events organized in Europe, commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial, was broadcasted live in Armenia with the support of Orange Foundation and presented to the audience due to the cooperation of Embassy of France in Armenia and Opera and ballet national theatre. In Yerevan the audience had an unprecedented opportunity to watch the live transmission of the Paris concert in the National Opera House, thanks to satellite and dedicated fiber solution provided by Orange.
“It was very important for us to help construct this communication bridge between Paris and Yerevan to involve as many spectators as possible, as this concert not only commemorates the Armenian Genocide but as well symbolizes the solidarity between Europe and Armenia. We have succeeded, as both concert halls were full. I would like to particularly thank the technical team of Orange as all the Yerevan spectators noticed the exceptional quality of this live transmission. To remind, Armenian audience will have one more chance to watch the full concert on the 24th of April at 14:00 on Armenia TV. Moreover for several days the recording of the concert will be available on foundation.orangearmenia.am website” said Francis Gelibter, Chairman of the Board of Orange Foundation.
The concert hosted the “Armenian World Orchestra”, formed from 50 best Armenian musicians from all over the world and specially created for this concert, as well as the famous Gyulbenkian Choir – soloists Hasmik Papian (soprano), Nora Gubisch (mezzo-soprano), Liparit Avetisyan (tenor), Tigran Martirossian (bas) and others.
The concert was organized by the Armenian General Benevolent Union in France. Famous compositions of Armenian composers, among them Komitas and Aram Khachatryan, as well as the Requiem by Mozart were performed. The composition “On the edge of the sky”, written by a young Armenian composer Michel Petrossian specially for this event, was performed for the first time.
