4th Armenian Open Championship of Computer and Mobile Games came to its end on October 26, with Henrik Hakobyan’s “Choppy Fish” as the winner in the “Best Game” nomination category.
The game will soon be available on the market, meanwhile in the frame of the special prize for this category Henrik Hakobyan in Belgrade will participate in “Casual Connect” world premiere event for the video games industry, where he will present his game at the Indie Prize showcase.
“Choppy Fish” was also recognized as the winner of the “Best Game Play” category, receiving AMD 200,000.
The winner of the Orange Prize, selected by Orange Armenia specialists and a guest Jury from France, representing Orange Group, is the IpricoT team with the “Angry Virus Run” game. The author of this game Harutyun Amirkhanyan will now have the exceptional opportunity to spend a three-month paid internship in France at one of the application development units of the Orange Group.
In addition to the special Orange Prize, Orange will also support the promotion of several selected games, including the “Angry Virus Run”, through its “My Orange” application.
Winner in the “Best Design” category is Jenya Karapetyan for her colorful “Paint In” game. The prize for this nomination amounted to AMD 200,000. “Paint In” will also be placed on the recommended page of “My Orange” application.
The “Best technological solution” award, with a prize of AMD 200,000 went to “Good Job” team, for their “Lazy Monkeys” game and “Little Leo” by Armen Movsisyan was recognized as the winner in the “Best 3D Solution” category. The author was awarded AMD 250,000.
AMD 200,000 for the “Best Junior” category winner went to Vazgen Hovhannisyan for his “Rockin and Rollin”. The winner in the “Public Prize” category was the team AVAZ with their game “Skydream”, an airplane flight simulation. The authors received AMD 50,000.
Winners in the remaining categories have not been selected by the Jury; however, participants presenting the most interesting solutions received encouragement prizes.
“The impressions are positive. Although we have not recorded much growth in numbers, we have at least achieved growth in quality. 20 games of 18 individuals and teams participated in the contest. I think this contest increases the programming knowledge of the participants. For example, we have a participant from the previous year, who didn’t know anything about programming and this year he participated in programming courses within the framework of the contest and filled in that gap” ,- “Open Game” Program Manager Shushanik Vardanyan told Itel.am.
She added that besides participants from Yerevan, this year the contest welcomed participants from Lori, Ararat and Armavir regions as well.
To remind, the 4th championship aims to develop computer game domain in Armenia, which will enable to create a new trend of technological business, reveal new talents and motivate the youth.
