The “DigiTech” 2014 International Technological Exhibition held from October 3-5 hosted the “Robots in Everyday Life” festival, the participants of which are schoolchildren attending engineering groups.
VivaCell-MTS has provided AMD 25 million for the organization of the festival.
Starting from 2012 robotics groups have been established in schools upon the initiative of the Union of the Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), which are equipped with specially designed robot-constructors. The leading telecommunications operator of Armenia has allocated AMD 73 million for the creation of the robot-constructors and for supporting the implementation of the program aimed at the development of robotic technics in Armenia, in general.
Robotics groups have been opened in 60 schools, 50 of them in the regions. The multifunctional robots created in these groups were presented during the festival. This year, among other events, also a competition of eco-robots was held, which aimed at propagating for environmental protection and drawing public attention to waste recycling. Besides, drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) were demonstrated at the exhibition.
The “Robots in Everyday Life” festival helps its young visitors in choosing the future profession. The festival as well as a number of other robotics competitions is implemented owing to VivaCell-MTS support. VivaCell-MTS commitment to adding new quality to educational programs has another important effect: according to the research done by the UITE, the robotics groups considerably benefit to the academic standing of the children attending the groups. The knowledge acquired during school years is especially durable.
“Robotics is one of the main spheres of boosting the competitive edge of our country. Armenia has enormous intellectual potential which should be put to use for the long-term development of our country. This festival helps to increase the enthusiasm for discovering and creating the new among the children interested in robotics,” - commented VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
