Minister of Emergency Situations of Armenia Armen Yeritsyan and VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian presented today the backup server center for the Armenian Government.
The creation of the server center kicked off a year ago with a memorandum of understanding signed between the partnering organizations on August 14, 2013. VivaCell-MTS allotted the Ministry of Emergency Situations with AMD 50 million to cover the creation of the center, as well as the purchase of property, equipment and technical means.
“Information security is one of the greatest challenges of the modern world. Keeping that in mind as well as taking the challenges facing Armenia into account, the modernization of information systems and the provision of the up-to-date conditions for the information safety have no alternatives. Armenia’s leading telecommunications operator acknowledges the importance of long-term investments in that process. The creation of the backup server center is aimed at increasing the viability of Armenia’s system of state governance in emergency situations,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.
The United Nations Development Program in Armenia provided AMD 12.4 million for the implementation of the program.
