Regulator will be stricter to operators after MNP launch

From April 1, the launch of mobile number portability (MNP) system, the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia will be stricter and more attentive to operators.

Member of the Commission Samvel Arabajyan said this today.

“The practice shows that after the introduction of the system in a number of countries, operators continue operation on non-competitive terms breaking the corporate ethics using particularly not correct commercials and damping prices”, he said.

Speaking about MNP launch in Armenia, Samvel Arabajyan said that the operators fulfilled all their duties and the service will be available from April 1.

The service will be free, the subscriber will be able to shift to another operator’s network within 3 working days. Calling to 148 short number, you can make a request on whether the subscriber remained in the network or shifted to another one.

Member of the Commission also explained the MNP rules for those subscribers who use mobile phones on contract basis.

“If a subscriber concludes a contract and buys a subsidized mobile phone, the operator should decode it on free basis while shifting to another mobile network”, said Samvel Arabajyan.
