ArmenTel (Beeline trademark) jointly with Center for Technology Development holds AppCON 2013 international conference in Yerevan today.
ArmenTel CEO Andrey Pyatakhin said that more and more mobile applications are worked out on a yearly basis and the operator should synchronize its actions with the trend.
“Mobile apps are now involved in the subscribers' life like a toothbrush, pen, car etc”, said the CEO.
At the same time, Andrey Pyatakhin noted that there are few Armenian-language mobile apps in Armenia: "I am currently studying Armenian and it’s hard for me to find a relevant app to use it while driving, for instance", he said.
“There is potential but there are no products. It's a vacant niche which may be used not only in Armenia but in the Armenian Diaspora as well”, said Andrey Pyatakhin adding that ArmenTel is ready to consider offers and support young specialists.
In his turn, head of Microsoft Armenia Grigor Barseghyan said that in 2013, Microsoft Innovation Center took part in development of about 200 mobile apps in Armenian. As of his data, there are overall about 1000 Armenian-language apps.
