New ArmenTel CEO: Igor Klimko resigned at his own request

Former CEO of ArmenTel Igor Klimko made the decision to leave the company at his own request, new ArmenTel CEO Andrey Pyatakhin said this at a press conference in Yerevan today.

Commenting on the publications according to which Klimko was allegedly dismissed due to multimillion losses the company suffered as a result of the conflict with one of the company’s top managers Samvel Khachatryan [brother of the head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia Gagik Khachatryan], Andrey Pyatakhin said that they are not true.

“Igor Klimko informed the VimpelCom leadership about his will to leave the post beforehand. He currently works upon an interesting project in Cambodia. As for Samvel Khachatryan, he has worked in ArmenTel for about 40 years. He headed one of our landline departments in the regions. He’s now promoted to a new position as he’s really an experienced specialist”, said Andrey Pyatakhin.

Commenting on the information on Samvel Khachatryan's connection to Ucom internet provider shares are owned by the sons of the head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, Andrey Pyatakhin said that the company’s official documents don't contain such information.

“We provide our infrastructure to over 10 communication operators and are ready to let it on lease to any operator on transparent terms. And it doesn't matter whether it’s Ucom, GNC-Alfa or any other operator”, said the newly appointed CEO.
