ArmenTel supports British Film Festival

Armenia will host 11th British Film Festival on March 2-11, 2013.

9 British films will be shown in marzes too after screenings in Moscow and Nairi cinema houses.

The 11th Festival of British Films is organized by the British Council with the support of the British Embassy to Armenia and ArmenTel (Beeline brand), the company reports.

Besides the screenings of British films shot in recent years, trainings and contests will be organized. Three more marzes will host the Festival as well covering the military units across whole Armenia for the first time.

The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place on 2 March at 15:00 at Moscow Cinema with Fish Tank film. This film of Andrea Arnold won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and BAFTA for the Best British Film. From 2 to 7 March films will be screened at Moscow Cinema (at 16:00 in English, at 18:00 with Armenian subtitles), and from 8 to 10 March at Nairi Cinema (at 14.30 English, at 18:00 with Armenian subtitles).

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2013 as the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation. 11th Edition of the British Film Festival joins the initiative and presents films aiming to raise awareness of the shortage of water. On 11 March the British Film Festival will have its closing event and the best films of Armenian directors that were submitted to Film+H2O Competition as well as films provided by the United Nations in Armenia will be screened. Armenian directors filmed their movies months before in the scope of Film + H2O Competition.

The goal of H2O film contest is to raise awareness of the public about the problems and the concerns about water. Afterwards the films will be screened at Cafesjian Center for the Arts where the best film directors will be awarded by the British Council and ArmenTel (brand name Beeline).
