1400th anniversary of Anania Shirakatsi entered UNESCO list of notable jubilees

Yerevan/Mediamax/. UNESCO discussed the applications for celebration of outstanding people’s jubilees for 2012 and included the 1400th anniversary of Anania Shirakatsi in that list.

Mediamax was informed on this in Byurakan Observatory, which had submitted this application.

Anania Shirakatsi was a big medieval scientist, known as a philosopher, mathematician, astronomer, as well as founder of exact sciences, natural science and astronomy in Armenia.

The Armenian government has already approved the program of Shirakatsi’s jubilee celebration for 2012-2013.
