Yerevan/Mediamax/. Number of students, who have entered State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) this year, reduced for 299 students, as compared to 2009, and made 1221.
Mediamax reports that SEUA Rector Vostanik Marukhyan stated at the meeting with the University first year students today.
According to the Rector, the University now tries to replenish the lack of students at the expense of correspondence education and it expects that the number of correspondence students will make about 500 this year.
“The largest competition this year was observed among entrants to the Faculty of Computer Systems and Informatics”, Vostanik Marukhyan stated, adding that high competition was also observed for the Faculties of Radio Physics and Communication, Cybernetics and Power Engineering. The fewest students (23) this year entered the faculty of Chemistry.
According to the Vice-Speaker of Armenian Parliament, Chairman of SEUA Board Samvel Nikoyan, “despite the fact that in today’s value system of Armenia knowledge does not occupy the first line, each year we become closer to that goal”.
