Armenian government approved the program for developing Yerevan Institute of Physics, to realize which it will allocate 575mln AMD

Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian government approved today the program for long-term development of Yerevan Institute of Physics after A. Alikhanyan.

As the Director of the Institute Ashot Chilingaryan informed today, the program provides for reformation and modernization of scientific and technical infrastructures, establishment of educational centers and a scientific-technical laboratory. The document defines the priority decisions for scientific research in the institute.

Ashot Chilingaryan noted that after USSR collapse, Armenian physics was left without attention and financial support, and all the existing technologies are outdated. “However, there is great scientific potential in the country, which, given certain reforms, may take Armenian science to an international level”, the Director of the Institute stated.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian stated today importance of the program and noted that the Institute of Physics has acquired foreign partners, who are already familiar with its capacities and will participate in joint international projects.

The volume of program financing from the state budget means will make 575.6mln AMD.
