Yerevan/Mediamax/. In June, Microsoft Office 2010 will be put to sale in Armenia, Head of Microsoft representative office Grigor Barseghyan stated today.
Mediamax reports that, speaking at a news conference in Yerevan today, Grigor Barseghyan stated that “various versions of Office will be put to sale in all stores of software support and computer equipment, which cooperate with us”.
According to him, the prices for the software package in Armenia will be concordant with the ones in the world markets. “Home version of Office 2010, which includes three licenses (that is to say, it may be installed on three computers), will cost about $150, and the professional versions of MS Office, meant for enterprises, will cost within the range of $500-600”, Grigor Barseghyan stated.
He noted that in 4 years of Microsoft presence in Armenia, the level of pirated SS in the country reduced by 6-8%. If at the moment of the company’s representative office opening the level of pirated SS in the country made 96-98%, at present this index nears 90%.
“Only due to sale of licensed products of Microsoft, over $5mln entered the state budget of Armenia over these four years”, Grigor Barseghyan stated, noting that today about 80 companies are certified partners of Microsoft in Armenia.
Touching upon establishment of the first Microsoft Innovation Center in the South Caucasus in Yerevan, Grigor Barseghyan stated that at present construction is in process at the center (located on the territory of State Engineering University of Armenia), which is planned to be completed within the nearest few months.
“The center will start functioning already this year and will deal with training and retraining of teaching staff of the Armenian higher educational institutions, students and specialists of IT companies, hold certified courses of Microsoft and will become a stimulus for developing IT sector companies in Armenia, which will receive assistance for shifting from outsourcing to creation and promotion of own products in the Armenian and world markets”, Grigor Barseghyan stated.
