Yerevan/Mediamax/. “VivaCell-MTS” welcomes the establishment of the Fund for Internet Traffic Exchange and is ready to cooperate with ARMIX.
Mediamax reports that General Manager of the Company Ralph Yirikian said this, answering the question of his blog’s visitors at www.Itel.am portal.
“As a mobile internet operator, “VivaCell-MTS” started internet traffic exchange with internet suppliers long before the initiative of ARMIX. Recently a corresponding decision was also made by Public Service Regulatory Committee, according to which any internet supplier has to secure connection with other operators of internet services, if the corresponding offer is there”, Ralph Yirikian stated.
General Director of “ArmenTel” (Beeline brand) Igor Klimko also commented on the issues of internet traffic exchange at www.Itel.am portal.
“The idea of the center has been voiced by me for a long time already and repeatedly in interviews and in personal meetings with participants of internet market. As to the issue of internet traffic exchange, “ArmenTel” has always supported solution of the problem, which has already been achieved by the decision of Public Service Regulatory Committee on establishing the order for local traffic exchange. The necessity of regulating this issue would not occur, if certain operators did not use limitations in peering connections as a tool of competition. Now, when the issue is solved due to the regulator’s interference, the membership of “ArmenTel” company, as well as other operators, which do not participate in the initiative (and many large operators don’t), is exclusively an issue of commercial benefit. Unfortunately, “ArmenTel” company was not involved in the process at the stage of the Fund’s formation and does not enter the list of its founders. I will say more, we cannot participate in public announcement on the Fund’s foundation as an invited onlooker. However, taking into account the depth and the complexity of the given problem, we are open for suggestions”, Igor Klimko stated.
