Yerevan/Mediamax/. The newly-established Fund for Internet Traffic Exchange in Armenia – Armix, hopes that “ArmenTel”, “VivaCell-MTS” and FiberNet companies will join it.
Mediamax was informed in the press service of the Union of IT Enterprises (UITE) of Armenia that the representatives of the above-mentioned companies were invited to the founding assembly and the first session of the Fund, which took place on April 2, but they did not participate in it.
The council of the newly-established Fund for Internet Traffic Exchange – Armix, includes UITE, “Internet Society” public organization, as well as Arminco, Orange Armenia, GNC Alfa, Web, Ucom and “Apaga Technologies” Companies.
Director of “Web” internet provider Albert Toneyan is elected Chairman of the Fund, and UITE Management Advisor Vahan Hovsepyan is elected Director.
The Fund aims at setting up a center for internet traffic exchange in the nearest months, which will unite networks of large Armenian providers.
“Due to this center, about 20-30% of internet traffic will remain in Armenia and will not cross the state borders, as a result of which the providers’ expenses and the prices for internet will reduce, and the quality will improve”, Karen Vardanyan, Head of UITE, stated at the founding assembly of the Fund.
