An expert group outlined promising directions to develop physics in Armenia

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Institute of Physics in Armenia may be transformed into a national scientific laboratory: international expert group of physicists, which has been in Yerevan since July 23, made such a suggestion.

Mediamax reports that the Minister of Economy of Armenia Nerses Yeritsyan informed on this at a news conference today, adding that the expert group, headed by nuclear physicist, academician of Russia’s Academy of Sciences Yuri Hovhannisyan, studies the prospects to develop the Institute of Physics of Armenia.

According to the Minister, the Institute possesses high scientific potential, which needs to be made correct use of. Nerses Yeritsyan noted that according to preliminary assessment by experts, the Institute has the problem of focusing on tasks for more efficient use of resources.

The expert group has already outlined promising and topical directions for developing physics in Armenia. Nerses Yeritsyan highlighted the importance of promoting physics, stressing that this very science is the basis for developing science intensive economy.
