Satellite creator OneWeb to cooperate with Armenia

British company OneWeb has raised USD 3.4bn for development of its own constellation of satellites.

OneWeb CEO Adrián Steckel has told Vedomosti that the company obtained the permit for working in Armenia, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

“We have signed a memorandum of understanding with Georgia, Kazakhstan and Armenia also because our constellation can play a major part in digitization of their state programs,” noted Steckel.

OneWeb counts among its largest investors the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank, Qualcomm, Airbus, and the government of Rwanda. The satellites will be produced by Airbus OneWeb Satellites, the joint enterprise of OneWeb and Airbus.
