VEON Group has held its global Digithon 2019 in Amsterdam, where Beeline Armenia employees competed as well.
Digithon is a contest between all companies comprising VEON. The teams create prototypes of innovative and relevant digital services during the contest. All participants are the winners of national stages of Digithon in 10 countries where the group operates. They formed 10 teams in Amsterdam, which included employees from various countries, including 5 Beeline Armenia staffers. This year Digithon focused on the challenges of 5G network.
The teams were given 24 hours to develop their ideas and make the prototypes, which they submitted to the professional jury and partners from VEON companies. VEON selected the three winners via double voting by the jury and the partners, who followed the contest online. The team that took the first place includes a Beeline Armenia employee.
“It is very important for Beeline to consistently develop the knowledge and skills of the employees and to fulfill their potential. I am certain that meeting our partners from different countries and creating innovative solutions will give a great impetus to development of our staff and company. Introduction of 5G network is a matter of time. We already think of what our subscribers will need in the future – simple, ambitious and convenient solutions,” said Beeline Armenia CEO Andrey Pyatakhin.
The winning Sonic Boom team was awarded a trip to Seoul, South Korea. It is the first country to launch the 5G mobile network and it has multiple innovative digital companies. Sonic Boom created the Boom VR concept app, which enables users to attend any concert or event in virtual reality.
The Big Bang and 4G Killers, which took the 2nd and the 3rd places respectively, have also been awarded prizes.
