Armenian Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan received Christina Ahmadjian, member of the board at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, on April 2.
Hakob Arshakyan spoke about the efforts aimed at forming Armenia’s digital agenda and developing the startup ecosystem, and the plan to open a national venture fund.
He highlighted the significant potential of Armenian experts and high quality of education in Armenia’s technical universities, but also pointed out the necessity for bringing the sector up to a new level. According to Arshakyan, Armenia has the foundation and the history to do so, and now the country needs to consistently develop education and science.
Christina Ahmadjian introduced him to the activity of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and a number of other companies where she serves as member of the board, and expressed the readiness to find areas of cooperation with Armenia.
Hakob Arshakyan also touched on the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT), which is due to take place in Yerevan this October, and emphasized the importance of participation of Japanese companies. The parties agreed to organize negotiations to secure their attendance.
