Yerevan participates in EU Code Week for the first time

Learn to Code! It’s Fun! took place on October 21 for the first time in Yerevan. This event was organized within the frames of EU Code Week European coding event.

The event was initiated by Armenian-Indian Center for Excellence of Enterprise Incubator Foundation (EIF) and supported by Google.

Around 200 school children (9 to 17) from both Yerevan and regions participated in the event. School children aged 9-13 were introduced to the basics of Scratch during the 2-hour workshop and tried to make some simple animations, while teenagers aged 14-17 got acquainted with HTML and did some coding afterward.

The workshop was followed by a quiz on IT, the most active participants of which received small souvenirs. The event was concluded with certificates awarding ceremony.

EU Code Week is European major programming event, which Armenia joined for the first time this year. It has been held for the 5th time now, gathering millions of young people from around 50 countries. The event is aimed at making programming and digital sciences accessible and more interesting for all school children.
