Armenian startups to compete in Sevan

Sevan Startup Summit will be held during August 18-24 on the shore of Lake Sevan. It will be a 7-day tech camp, which will bring together many Armenian startupers.

The summit is sponsored by Startup Armenia Foundation.

In the interview to Itel.am, CEO of Startup Armenia Foundation Tigran Petrosyan mentioned that entrepreneurs, advisers, VC representatives and other representatives of the sector will take part in the summit to help startupers in developing their ideas and bringing them to life.

Tigran Petrosyan said: “Participants will have an opportunity to understand the essence of startup entrepreneurship better, and gain skills that can be efficiently used in practice. The summit will use non-formal education format as a platform for startupers to meet and work with their colleagues, prospective investors and sponsors. By these means, participants will be able to develop their communication skills, exchange ideas with peer participants, and get a chance to create or reformulate their product during our summit.”

He also mentioned that Sevan Startup Battle will be held as part of Sevan Startup Summit on the 21st of August. “10 early age startup teams will get an opportunity to compete for USD 5k prize. Each team will have 4 minutes for pitching and 3 minutes for a question and answer session. Only startups that have attracted less than USD 100k VC or angel investments will be eligible to participate. “Also, during the summit up to 30 seed stage startups will compete for a USD 2.5k prize. The competition will have 3 rounds. During each round participants will have 1 minute for pitching their idea to the professional jury,” Tigran Petrosyan said.

The jury panel will comprise of experts fairly representing the Armenian tech entrepreneurship ecosystem. Also, there will be foreign investors, who are very interested in the project and Armenian market in general.
