VivaCell-MTS provides sustainable water supply to Tsovagyugh community

The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets and VivaCell-MTS have summed up the results of a joint program implemented in order to improve water supply network in rural communities.

Within the project a water supply main system and an internal water supply feeder pipeline with total length of 4 km were built in Tsovagyugh community, Gegharkunik region.

The opening ceremony of waterline was attended by VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, the Founder of FPWC Ruben Khachatryan, Tsovagyugh community head Vahram Gevorgyan, as well as community residents.

«Realizing the importance and need for balanced development of regions and the capital, VivaCell-MTS has launched a number of joint projects with partner organizations for implementing in the country’s most vulnerable communities. In our projects we focus on creating vital infrastructure, as well as on improving the existing ones. Almost half of Tsovagyugh community was deprived of a stable water supply for many years, but this injustice has been corrected, and now several public institutions and another 250 families will be provided with drinking water», VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian said.

The water supply system in this village is divided into two parts. Only half of the residents have 12-hour water supply, meanwhile the other half had access to water only 2-3 hours a day.

The project implemented in the community includes water pipeline reconstruction, which is aimed to increase the water resources. Also water metric system will be installed to facilitate the economy of water. All of this will help to use the water resources more efficiently and supply stable water to a larger number of beneficiaries.

A part of the work - 4 km long pipeline deployment, is already accomplished. As a result, the kindergarten, the school, the clinic, the village council building and about 250 houses have been provided with 10-hour water supply. After the installation of the metric system in the beginning of the next year, a part of Tsovagyugh residents will have 24-hour, and the other part - 12-hour water supply.

In 2015 Chkalov community in Lori region has as well been provided with sustainable water supply in the frames community development program jointly implemented by FPWC and VivaCell-MTS Construction works are still underway in four more communities in different regions of Armenia.
