CityBugs startup wins World Summit Youth Award

CityBugs Armenian startup has won The World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) prestigious international contest this year held in Sao Paolo, Brazil, from June 15 to 17.

CityBugs was named a winner in “Create your Culture" category.

CityBugs Co-Founder Hovhannes Aghajanyan who is in San Paolo these days told Itel.am that over 2000 projects from 140 countries took part in the contest and out of them only 18 were named winners.

The international contest brings together developers and entrepreneurs - under 30 years of age - who use internet and mobile technology and whose projects are aimed at “Social Good.”

Hovhannes Aghajanyan believes that WSYA is a great opportunity for establishing new contacts and dissemination of the future social impact of CityBugs.

Developed in 2012 CityBugs is a social platform to raise various social issues. The registered users can raise the issues certain parts of their cities face.

As of now, this social platform is available in a number of cities in Armenia. In the near future, Toronto (Canada) and Sao Paolo (Brazil) will also join them. There will be a common e-volunteering strategy for the cities, which will be based on the digital society using new technologies and social networks.

According to Hovhannes Aghajanyan, to date 501 issues have been raised through the platform, out of which 199 have been settled. Some of the issues are currently being addressed.

CityBugs was developed by X-Tech Company and is also available in AppStore and Google Play.
