Ahead of Demo Day: Design your apartment with Home Planning

Early this year Microsoft Innovation Center Armenia had organized “MIC Acceleration” program in which seven local startups took part. 

“MIC Acceleration” Demo Day will be held in April during which the teams will present to Armenian and foreign investors and entrepreneurs the results of the work they did over the past months.

Ahead of the Demo Day, MIC Armenia and Itel.am are sequentially introducing the development history of the seven startups.

Home Planning. The website allows visitors to plan the 3D interior design of the house without a designer. It helps designing houses using the variety of renovation products, available at stores.

One of the founders of the website, Mihran Babayan, told Itel.am  that a few months ago he was renovating his apartment and was in constant search of a website or an application, which would help him understand how the walls, flooring or ceiling would look like after painting them this or that color.

He shared his concerns with Vahagn Hovhannisyan and decided to develop some IT tool, which will help people renovating their apartments. Later Arsen Mkhitaryan joined the team.
 
“MIC Acceleration served as a kick-off for us. We used to discuss various aspects of the possible application but were not starting it. The program put us into the certain pace. We were thinking not only about website development but through the assistance of our mentors we started developing business way of thinking, as startups”, said Arsen Mkhitaryan.

“Formerly, while developing something, I always thought what if it doesn’t work out, or if customers will not like it. With the program I understood that a successful startup should not be afraid of failures. Small failures lead to a success”, said Vahagn Hovhannisyan.

“Currently we are targeting Armenian market and trying to work with stores in Armenia. A person who is planning to renovate his/her apartment will just need to scan the drawing and put the measurements.’ stressed Mihran Babayan.
