ArmenTel does not observe “huge demand” for MNP service

After the introduction of MNP (Mobile Number Portability) service in Armenia only 525 subscribers ported their numbers to Beeline network.

ArmenTel CEO Andrey Pyatakhin told this Mediamax.

“We have not observed huge demand for this service. Now that it is possible to find a person via social networks and not mobile number, the value of that number diminishes”, said Andrey Pyatakhin.

He noted that part of subscribers who had switched to other operators returned to ArmenTel after the introduction of MNP service on April 1.

“It’s also an interesting trend. There are subscribers who are interested in novelties or simply keep up with trendy innovations and after enjoying their benefits, part of them returned to our network”, said Andrey Pyatakhin.

Talking about the appropriateness of MNP service in Armenia, Andrey Pyatakhin stated that ArmenTel has paid special attention to the technical part.

“Most importantly, this service functions. It is highly important for us not to let subscribers porting their numbers to our network feel any inconvenience. We have not received any complaints with regard to network operation, and it’s already a great achievement”, said ArmenTel CEO.
