VivaCell-MTS allotted more than AMD 31 million to create the third educational lab at the European Regional Academy

Within the frames of the joint educational program of Synopsys Armenia, VivaCell-MTS and European Regional Academy (ERA) the new 3rd educational lab at ERA was opened.

Armenia’s leading telecommunications operator allotted more than AMD 31 million to the ERA to create the third educational lab at the Department of Microelectronic Circuits and Systems of Communication Facilities. Owing to VivaCell-MTS financial support, the laboratory premise was adapted to educational needs and standards and was equipped with computers. VivaCell-MTS financial support will also cover the salaries and other remuneration of instructors.

In 2011 the parties signed the trilateral agreement on the establishment of joint educational program aimed at preparation of ICT specialists. In the past three years, VivaCell-MTS invested about 74 million AMD in the establishment of three educational labs. Synopsys Armenia granted educational packages of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software, as well as provided the department with curricula, instructional materials and training for ERA faculty members.

“Education is the sphere that requires well designed and targeted programs. Investments in this sphere bring fruits years after. However, they cannot be overestimated and are very important in defining the future of the country. We have striven to create conditions to provide students with opportunities to succeed and to shape them as specialists on their way to becoming professionals. Modern labs are able to reveal the endeavors of a student anew making education even more attractive and efficient,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

Using a successful and proven educational model of cooperation the program makes it possible to provide Armenia’s workforce with industry-ready graduates, who have the required knowledge and practical skills to quickly become productive in the industry. According to the educational model by Synopsys Armenia, after acquiring a basic education in the 2nd year of Bachelor program, top-performing students are selected to participate in the program. The selection of students is made by leading Synopsys and VivaCell-MTS technical experts and first-rate professors of the Academy. This year for the first time bachelor students with the specialization in “Micro-Electronic Circuitry and Systems of the Communication Facilities” graduated from the ERA.  The best undergraduate students now have an opportunity to continue their education pursuing master’s degree.

“Availability of high quality and up-to-date professionals is a top priority for the development of the sphere of information and telecommunications,” says Synopsys Armenia Director Hovik Musayelyan. “This program is a brilliant example of a trilateral cooperation for preparation of professionals equipped with the most advanced knowledge and skills.”

“This is an opportunity for “Microelectronic circuits and systems” chair to further improve the professional qualifications of students specializing in Microelectronic circuits and systems for means of communication,” says Vazgen Melikyan, honorable scientist of RA, director of the Synopsys Armenia Educational Department and head of ERA’s Microelectronic Circuits and Systems of Communication Facilities Chair. “The opening of the new educational lab will provide an opportunity to start implementing a master degree program in a new specialization.”

“This partnership of European Regional Academy with Synopsys Armenia and VivaCell-MTS supports and greatly contributes to the improvement of the ERA’s Bachelor and Master degree program, offering a new level of professional knowledge and skills to students in the sphere of information technologies specializing in microelectronics,” says the rector of the ERA Andranik Avetisyan. “During their studies and internship, the students are given an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills within the real industry projects, which also helps them in their professional careers once they graduate.”
