Tariff plans for fixed communication subscribers to be worked out in Armenia soon

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The ArmenTel fixed communication subscribers will be able to switch to various tariff plans in the nearest future.

Member of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) Samvel Arabajyan said today that the PSRC will discuss the issue on October 19, Mediamax reports.

According to Samvel Arabajyan, residents of regions are the main focus-group of the tariff plans within fixed network as the tariff for long-distance communication within ArmenTel fixed network makes AMD 20 per minute which is not a competitive one and it entails reduction of the voice traffic.

“As a dominant on the fixed communication market, ArmenTel has realized the need for making the tariffs more flexible in order to boost the usage of the fixed network in the regions. It was decided to decrease the price for  long-distance communication within the new tariff plans by cutting off the number of free minutes and keeping the current subscriber charge unchanged”, said Samvel Arabajyan.

He noted that only 5-6 companies provide fixed communication services whereas the PSRC granted about 50 licenses to this end only in Yerevan and as for regions, ArmenTel is still the sole player here.
