Comparative analysis of financial indices of three Armenian mobile operators

Yerevan/Mediamax/. According to the decision of the Public Services Regulatory Commission three Armenian mobile operators will hence publish basic technical and economic indices of mobile services every quarter on their web sites, due to which it will be able to compare and analyze the results of operators\' mobile business.

\"VivaCell-MTS\" leads in the second quarter of 2011 by operational earnings (AMD 18bln 697mln and 223 thousand). Operational earnings of \"ArmenTel\" made AMD 17bln 490mln and 335 thousand, whereas Orange Armenia\'s earnings totaled AMD 3bln 521mln and 910 thousand.

In the second quarter of 2011, operational earnings of \"ArmenTel\" gained from the mobile business totaled AMD 7bln 404.3mln, from fixed telephony- AMD 10,08bln, from mobile services (besides Hi Line Internet services)- AMD 298mlb 597 thousand. The operational income of \"VivaCell-MTS\" gained from the mobile business made AMD 11bln 147.3mln, from internet services- AMD 1bln 356,9mln.

It\'s noteworthy that Orange Armenia yields to its competitors by the earnings from the mobile business (AMD 1bln 132.4mln) but leads by the earnings from 3G internet services in the second quarter (AMD 1bln 408,3mln).

\"ArmenTel\" is the  leader by operational expenses (AMD 10,77bln, \"VivaCell-MTS\"- AMD 8,56bln, Orange Armenia- AMD 4,88bln), however by the volume of capital investments it falls behind its competitors: capital expenses of \"ArmenTel\" in the II quarter totaled AMD 2,3bln against AMD 5,58bln of \"VivaCell-MTS\" and AMD 2.78bln of Orange Armenia.

In the second quarter \"VivaCell-MTS\" leads by OIBDA index (Operating income before depreciation and amortization) - AMD 10bln 136,3bln; OIBDA of \"ArmenTel\" during the accounting period totaled AMD 6bln 715,4mln and Orange Armenia\'s index is still negative (taking into account the fact that the company has not ensured investment recurrence yet) - AMD 3bln 131,4mln.

By the number of active users of mobile communication \"VivaCell-MTS\" keeps lead (as of June 30 this index made 2 020 266 against 732 636 of \"ArmenTel\" and 606 348 of Orange). Orange leads by the number of 3G internet users (65 358). The number of 3G users of \"VivaCell-MTS\" as of June 30 made 45 265 and 18 127 of \"ArmenTel\".

The Average revenue per user (ARPU) from service sale of \"ArmenTel\" in the second quarter of 2011 is the highest- AMD 2318 from prepaid and AMD 5640 from postpaid subscribers. Relevant indices of \"VivaCell-MTS\" make correspondingly AMD 1780 and 4988; Orange Armenia\'s indices are as follows: AMD 1154 and 3107 correspondingly.

Relatively high ARPU index of \"ArmenTel\" is conditioned by the fact that the company has set the highest price for services including interconnect and incoming roaming (APPM index). APPM index for \"ArmenTel\'s\" prepaid subscribers made AMD 9.42 per minute, for postpaid subscribers- AMD 18.74 per minute. The same index of \"VivaCell-MTS\" made correspondingly AMD 4.89 and AMD 9.49 per minute, and Orange- AMD 8 and AMD 14 per minute.

In April-June 2011,\"VivaCell-MTS\" was the leader by the number of new subscriptions in mobile network (176 192; relevant indices of Orange Armenia and \"ArmenTel\" are 129 876 and 73 315 correspondingly); Orange leads by the number of new subscriptions of 3G internet (11 840). The number of new internet subscriptions of \"ArmenTel\" (besides Hi Line service) in the second quarter of 2011 made 7 908 and VivaCell-MTS- 7 177.

In the second quarter \"VivaCell-MTS\" and Orange spent AMD 903mln 718 thousand and AMD 838mln 783 thousand for advertisement correspondingly; whereas \"ArmenTel\" spent AMD 327mln  301 thousand.
