ADC launches a reserve international internet-channel

Yerevan/Mediamax/.Armenian Datacom Company (ADC) Internet provider launched a reserve international internet-channel on September 15. The channel will allow the subscribers uninterrupted internet access in case the FiberNet channel is damaged.

The backup channel was leased from another communication operator having an international gateway (besides FiberNet, ArmenTel and GNC Alfa have international gateway in Armenia), ADC Commercial Director Levon Israyelyan told Mediamax. The ADC representative abstained from indicating the name of the company which provides the reserve capacity. He just noted that it is coming out in Georgia’s direction.

“The channel is fully redundant and has a capacity of several gigabits. This will ensure no connection interruption and changes of speed in case the other line is damaged”, said Levon Arakelyan.

ADC has only used FiberNet channel so far which stretches along the railway in direction of Georgia. In late 2010, FiberNet Communication was purchased by Norwegian ADC Holding AS, the shareholder of the Armenian Datacom Company.
