Yerevan/Mediamax/. The government of Belgium confirmed intention to render financial support for the project of establishing a Nuclear Medicine Center on the basis of Yerevan Institute of Physics.
Mediamax reports that the Executive Director of National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenian (NCFA) Pegor Papazian informed on this today.
The total cost of the program makes 7-8mln EUR, 5mln EUR of which will be provided by the Belgian bank for the term of 13 years, without payment for the credit maintenance the first three years. The remaining 2-3mln EUR should be provided by the Armenian government.
Credit means will be directed at purchasing a cyclotron accelerator for precise diagnosis and treatment of oncological illnesses. The means, provided by the Armenian government, will be used for construction and organizational works.
The Nuclear Medicine Center is planned to be put into operation in 2012-2013.
Pegor Papazian also informed that NCFA assists the initiative of the Ministry of Economy on developing Jermuk town. In the nearest future, specialists will arrive from Switzerland for elaboration of Jermuk development plan, basing on which there will be a program approved for attracting investments.
