PSRC established tariffs for interconnect between landline connection operators in Armenia

Yerevan /Mediamax/. Public Service Regulatory Committee (PSRC) of Armenia met the application of “ArmenTel” Company (Beeline brand) concerning approval of the model agreement on interconnection with alternative operators of landline connection.

Mediamax reports that the Head of PSRC Telecommunication Department Gevorg Gevorgyan stated at the session that, taking into account the dominating position of “ArmenTel” Company in landline connection market, the Committee independently established the tariffs for interconnect.

According to him, the tariff for interconnect in Yerevan will make 2.5 AMD, and in the regions of Armenia – 10 AMD, instead of 5.2 AMD in Yerevan and 12 AMD in the regions of the country, suggested by “ArmenTel” Company.

Gevorg Gevorgyan suggested that members of the Committee make a separate decision concerning the model agreement in mobile connection network, since “there are also two other operators functioning in the given market and without their consent, it would be incorrect to make a decision”.

Head of “ArmenTel” Legal Service David Sandukhchyan stated that as the national operator, the company was the first to take the initiative on composing and approving the agreement on interconnect and it is ready to cooperate with all alternative operators.

PSRC Chairman Robert Nazaryan expressed confidence that by the end of 2010, the alternative operators will overcome technical and economic obstacles, and strong competition will develop in the market of landline connection.
